Experience
I first started tutoring when I was in high school, where I was given the opportunity to work at a math tutoring center. I worked with students ranging from elementary school up to high school, and found that I really enjoyed teaching. I was given more opportunities to develop my tutoring skills while in college, where I served as a TA for an anatomy course and continued to tutor. After earning a bachelor's degree in Biology, I worked in the medical research field and also helped develop college-level curriculum. I later worked as a TA for an epidemiology course during my graduate program.Combined, these experiences have given me a confidence in my ability to successfully tutor others, even in the most difficult subjects. One of the things I love most about tutoring is trying to see the material through the students' eyes so as to find out how best to help them learn the concepts. Everyone has different ways of learning, and I strive to find what works best and adapt my teaching accordingly. I have experience tutoring in math, science (from the basics to advanced courses), reading, writing, and standardized test preparation. Aside from science and tutoring, some of my other interests include reading, rowing, running, and enjoying the great outdoors.
